01 Which system is the best fit?
Compare the same business scope, representative data, controls, integrations, implementation effort, and total cost. Burton is evaluated around connected fulfillment: OMS, ASN, physical warehouse work, customer visibility, and service billing. It should not be assumed to replace all enterprise finance, manufacturing, planning, or transport requirements.
02 Enterprise ERP and broad business suites
| Option | What to evaluate alongside Burton |
|---|---|
| Oracle | Separate broad enterprise supply-chain requirements from a focused warehouse or 3PL scope. Test ASN, receiving, fulfillment, and billing without assuming equal enterprise breadth. |
| NetSuite | If finance leads the project, evaluate finance ownership first. Compare warehouse execution and a validated handoff to the financial system; coexistence may be appropriate. |
| SAP | Define the finance, planning, and logistics processes that must remain in SAP. Validate any proposed warehouse interface, implementation effort, and support boundary. |
| Odoo | Compare the same warehouse tasks and the configuration, customization, and ongoing maintenance each approach needs. Include broader ERP applications only when they are required. |
| Microsoft Dynamics 365 SCM | Distinguish enterprise manufacturing and planning from the priority warehouse or 3PL project. Confirm demonstrated scope and integration boundaries. |
03 Commerce inventory and shipping tools
| Option | What to evaluate alongside Burton |
|---|---|
| Cin7 Core | Determine whether channel stock management or physical warehouse depth is the main need. Test inbound shipments, locations, execution, and 3PL billing if required. |
| Ordoro | Establish what is needed beyond shipping and inventory, including receiving controls, warehouse work, customer visibility, and service billing. |
| Linnworks / SkuVault | Compare multichannel selling and inventory needs separately from inbound logistics, warehouse execution, and billing. Test the specific product and version proposed. |
04 Specialist warehouse and 3PL platforms
| Option | What to evaluate alongside Burton |
|---|---|
| Infoplus | Compare warehouse and automation tasks, plus handoffs to inbound shipment information, billing, and reporting. Identify work outside the warehouse that remains manual. |
| ShipHero | Test your actual mix of ecommerce, B2B retail, cross-border inbound, EDI, and finance handoffs, rather than assuming all fulfillment models are identical. |
| Logiwa | Compare one supported AI or fulfillment workflow with the same approvals, workload, and measurable results. An AI label alone does not establish a difference. |
| Extensiv | Extensiv already offers 3PL warehousing, billing, and portals. Compare the complete customer lifecycle, including pre-arrival ASN, ERP/EDI handoffs, invoice review, and customer experience. |
These are evaluation questions, not a current feature audit or ranking. Verify the offered edition, modules, region, service scope, and commercial terms with each provider.
05 Use one scorecard
Choose the workflows that drive the decision and assign acceptance criteria before testing. A useful record includes demonstrated capability, data and approval controls, unresolved gaps, integration ownership, user effort, transition risk, support commitments, and total cost. Use the same shipment, order, exception, and invoice wherever possible.
The result may be a replacement, a coexistence architecture, or keeping the current system. See integration planning, project cost, and vendor continuity.
